Jon Langford

Lead Technical Artist - Splash Damage

I am a UE5 generalist with an expert knowledge of the relationships between Unreal's many systems. I started my career leaning more towards an artistic Tech Artist, with a focus on materials and world-building. Over time, I have become more specialised in tooling and gameplay in C++ and Blueprint. However, I still have a keen love for the more artistic side of the role.
 

I am incredibly passionate about both team and personal growth. I have managed a team size of 12 Tech Artists, with some being fully remote and others in-studio. I am a big believer that not one person has all the answers, so it takes a team's ideas to succeed and to learn from. I regularly collaborate with the CTO, and Art Directors to align on the studio’s vision. I’m always wanting to grow, learn, and develop new skills to better myself and bring these skills to the team.
 

I was part of the team that delivered 24 maps for Gears of War 4 and another 24 maps for Gears 5, all at a consistent 60fps on Xbox One (Durango). This was a great test of my skills to both enable and be part of a passionate team of artists delivering industry-leading visuals. Whilst still ensuring the worlds were heavily optimized without sacrificing any visual fidelity.
