Pahanu
I was the Technical Artist on Pahanu for Gears 5 ensuring that the map ran at a locked 60fps on Xbox One. For the map, the biggest performance hurdle was the Vertex density. This was due to the high foliage density adorning the map, as well as the number of draw calls.
The biggest area of focus for me was the dynamic water in the centre of the map, allowing for dynamic trails and splashes behind players. I also focused on creating creative solutions for the foliage to reduce their vertex density and draw count.
